Every Drop Counts.

Water Quality Testing

Volunteers work with the Citizen Lake Monitoring Network to collect high quality water monitoring data. Three times during the summer, lake members take a trip to the dam to record the lake level, collect water samples and measure the water temperature at the “Big Hole,” track water clarity with a secchi disk, and prepare the chlorophyll and phosphorous samples for analysis.

Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM) Mitigation

Volunteers scoop Eurasian Water Milfoil fragments as scuba diver pulls the plants at the roots. Throughout the summer of 2023, they removed 134 large potato sacks of EWM from the north bay.

Loon Nesting Platform

We built the loon nesting platform in 1997 after 18 years of unsuccessful chick production—nests built at the water’s edge were vulnerable to raccoons, skunks and snapping turtles. Since then we have successfully supported 41 chicks on their journey from hatching on the safe platform to fledgling. The loons experienced a platform upgrade in 2023.
